Can we really eat it?

Food is one of the most important source in one’s life. It provides energy, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, water, and other nuturitions that are neccesary for humans. I love eating food. Eating dealicious food is always welcoming. However, eating bugs and intenstines of animals? … I don’t know. Well, there are many people who actually enjoy eating diverse and interesting food. Starting from locusts to mostiquitoes’ eyes, there are tons of nasty food people can actually eat. In Korea, ‘Sundae’ is considered as very normal and popular food. Sundae is made with pig’s intestines with a lot of noodles. My mother and sister very much like eating this food like those of other Koreans but whenever they buy this food and bring to me, the smell makes me sick. And after knowing the fact that Sundae is made of pig’s intestine, it right away disgusted me. I was shocked. My mother and sister buy this and eat this a lot, so one day I thought may be I should try eating one. I did. After all, Sundae was not that bad. But after I got chocked by eating Sundae I never eat it.
I think more disgusting than eating bugs is eating food that were the leftover ones from the previous customers at a restaurant. From a television show I learned how so many restaurats, 14 out of 20, reuses their food to make new food. I was disgusted after watching the show. Especially, Korean food, where people eat rice with many different kinds of side dishes, the side dishes are not new but old food from other customers. This is just a shocking news. I hope this will soon be fixed.

The best tool for education – Laptop
While I was searching for new laptops I read an article explaining how laptops are now the perfect learning tool for students. According to the article laptops can handle an incredible and innumerable amount of tasks and serve multi different functions to allow the students to finsish their school assignments and search for information. I agree that laptops allow the works to be simplified and increases productivity which is great for learning students. Nowadays people, especially younger generations would not think of living in a world without laptops and internet. Internets also make people more world wide and can make them be aware of what is going on around them.

Allergy
Two years ago I figured out that I am allergic to dust. But it was a never serious one. This year, again, trying for cross country I did not feel very comfortable with myself and my body as I was running. I was keep coughing and felt like my eyeball will come out. So scratchy and itchy. I just thought it was just a temporarily thing and soon will be gone. But things got worse as day went by. Then I decided to go and see doctor and they told me to take an allergy test. They put 26 needles on my back and I felt as if an eel was on my back electrifying me. The result came out as I of course am allergic to dust and as well as bugs especially cocaroches. I was shocked. This was just so new to me. Since I moved my house to a different place, used pastels for my artwork, and ran outside where bugs are everywhere I allergy got worse and worse. I never knew allergy will become this serious and strangle myself. I should have been more cautious of myself and for my body.

Response to the article “So Young, and so Gadgeted”
After reading this article I again could again imagine how our world is becoming more advanced in technologies as time passes by. Especially, living in Korea, where so many great technologies are innovated every minute, the issue stated in the article is clearly seen. Since cell phone is becoming very essential and part of people’s life, there are also small versions for children. It looks like a toy, however, it has the ability to take picture and call and text message to the others who also own the ‘Angel Phone’, Cell phones are becoming very famaliar to children. A child who does not own a cell phone may not become part of his or her social group.

Response to the Beijing Olympic Lip-Sync article
As soon as I learned the ‘real’ situatious at the Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony I was astonished and very shocked. However, when I thought about the issue again maybe using two people for appearance and singing separately was the best way to show the ‘real China’. When I first realized that the girl who was actually performing on the stage was not actually singing but lip-syncing. There was another girl singing at the backstage. Even though in the video, Chinese people defends this issue that the children both agreed on it and did not have any disagreements, however, I believe that this is not the best reasonable and logical answer. How can little children really realize what this might affect in their future life? This was my first thought when I right away watched the video.
After watching the video, I had a second thought. May be this is really what China is and during the Olympic they did what is best for them to show the beauty of China to other foreign people. Or may be Chinese had great pressure for this Olympic that they did not have any time to find a child who can both sing and perform well. This article was very interesting and new.

Olympics-proud to be a Korean
The Beijing Olympic of 2008 has begun. Korean players have been preparing for olympic games for four years and until now we have earned three gold medals from judo, swimming, and archery. I am very proud of all the players and people who have contributed to the victory. Once again all the Koreans became one and showed great interest in every game. It reminded me of the World cup 2002. This is the first time a Korean player won a medal for swimming ever since year 1964 . I am sure that this olympic event will bring huge patriotism in Koreans for once again. Fighting Korea!

The Beauty of Running
Initially, my reason to start and continue with running was to try losing some pounds or maintain my weight, just like a majority people out there. However, the longer I stayed in the cross-country team, the more I started to look for a reason for running other than loosing my weight. Before running, endurance was not one of my strengths. However, as I kept running my endurance skills have improved and I was able to control my pace as I run. Running offers me time to think about my past and what I will become. These are the true beauty of running.

Running
For a month I just stayed home doing nothing but eating and studying. Then I realized how much weight I have gained. I was astonished. I just could not believe this. There was something that must be done differently. I needed to change my habits. I stopped eating 5 meals a day and just ate 2 meals a day. For few days it really was such a great challenge for me to complete. But I got in a good habbit of doing this. However, nothing really changed. I was still on unbelievable weight. My heart beat so fast and I was worried. Then one day I found a piece of paper regarding my cross country pre-season. “This is it!”, I shouted. I felt as if I found a gold from the ground. Then I started running three days a week. Then things started to change. I lost my weight as well as became stronger. Running really is my life savior! I love running=)

Looking Back at My Childhood
What made me become,
What I am right now,
Are the memories of the past.
I cannot forget
How I grew up
Under my parents
Who I love and thank for
I cannot forget
Times I spent with my friends
Cause of the fun we shared
Is too valuable to trade for anything
I miss my time
When I was able
To run around the field
Without any worries
But time passed by
And I am standing on the road
that will determine the path I take
There is no time for me
To look back,
But step forward for new memories
I want to go back to
The time I did not
Have to take
Such humongous responsibilities

What a Day
The time has come again. ”My grandfather is watching me.” I have to be cautious on everything. No more crossing legs, never falling asleep, and of course, not missing any single word the priest is saying.
Every Sunday at 7’ O’clock sharp in the morning, all the family members of my father’s side assemble to attend church located near my grandfather’s house. Since my grandfather is considered the catch of the town he is always awake about situations around him. So our family needs to look ‘perfect’ in the church. Even when we are praying.
Like Every Sunday we were looking perfect until I unintentionally crossed my legs. Then things started to get ugly. After church we all went to our grandfather’s house then he called me.
“Eungee, come and close the door.”
I knew what exactly was going to happen. He softly but cautiously yelled at me of how rude I was at the church. He said if I started crossing legs and become my habbit then I cannot never control and unintentionally keep cross my legs. His words were correct but I was sad because I un-crossed my legs as soon as I realized what I was doing. Since my grandfather is so scary I could not say a word.
Going back home I thoguth this was unfair but I guess he is just doing this all for my future.
I have to be always concious of what I do more from now on.
